Hi friends, this is purely a news post since I haven't written in a while. Just a couple items:
Here is
my Worldcon schedule if you'd like to check out the panels that I'm on. I'll be talking about data centers, alternative energy, and AI. The AI panels are definitely going to be the most fraught, given how high emotions have been running around the topic. I consider those panels to be my Kobayashi Maru for the year.
If you'd like to hang out at Worldcon, just email me, I'd love to say hi.
Think Weirder Volume 2 is still targeting an October release date. I don't have a full list of authors for you yet, but the teaser is that Adrian Tchaikovsky, Tia Tashiro, Peter Watts, and Isabel J. Kim will all have stories in this volume, among others.
The deal is still the same — I evaluate a bunch of stories published last year, pick the ones that I consider to be the best concept-driven, near-future science fiction, pay the authors for reprint rights, print them in a book, and give them to you.
This is going to be a really fun volume. 2025 was a great year for short stories, and my goal is to provoke a high number of "wow, I hadn't considered that" moments when reading.
And don't forget to vote for the Hugo awards if you're going to Worldcon — the deadline is tomorrow!
