Friends, this is the best book I've ever released:
Think Weirder Volume 2
Multiple times while editing and typesetting I just stopped to re-read the stories, I love them all so much.
There are award winners and award finalists in here (Hugo, Nebula, Locus, Sturgeon, etc), and stories that I think should have won awards but didn't, but their common property is the quality of their ideas — they're all rigorously considered stories that made me think a little differently about some aspect of the world. You'll find stories by authors you probably know (Adrian Tchaikovsky, Greg Egan, Isabel J. Kim, Peter Watts, Nancy Kress, etc.) and some whose work has never appeared in a year's best before.
I'm also including some fun extras this year, including a long post about why I selected each story which you can find in the
Reader Access page with a code from the book.
Last year volume 1 was the #1 new release in Short Stories Anthologies, and in an effort to get even more people reading this year, the ebook launch price is $2.99 for two weeks (after which it'll rise back to $9.99). There's also a
volume 1 99 cent deal through Sunday, so please share with anyone you think might enjoy.
Finally, some of you may recall that I
gave authors the option to be paid in silver this year, a completely ridiculous decision on my part that served no real purpose other than to make me laugh. This year I'm going bigger — I custom-ordered 5 stainless steel cubes (8lb, 3 inches to a side) tastefully laser-stamped with THINKWEIRDER.COM on one bottom-right side, which authors can optionally choose for payment next year. As you can see below, they make extremely solid bookmarks. I have no plans to sell these online because they're such a pain in the ass to ship, but if you want one email me and we'll see if we're going to a conference together next year or something.
I'm grateful for your support!
Joe
