It's late at night here in Colorado and my family is asleep, which is when I work on new games for you fine people. I'm finally ready to show you
Hawking Radiation Mass Energy Converter!
"Game" is actually a strong word for what this is, the game is actually more of an experiment to try and convey some information about artificial black holes. It is possible to play through the whole game in less than two minutes, but it will probably take you longer than that to get a feel for the mechanics.
I'd love to hear what you think of it. If you want some light background reading to go along with the game, here's the Wikipedia page on
Hawking Radiation.
I've already started drafting my next game, which will have a more traditionally engaging core gameplay loop, so don't worry! I'm not going off the deep end, this little experiment was an abberation and not the norm.
I'd like to thank David Baur for his suggestion on how to improve the game with music, thanks David, it's much more playable now.
I'll be back soon with my yearly review of the Hugo Finalists for best novel. Until then take care!
Joe
